The storefront of Cafer Erol features a display of glass jars filled with colorful, piled-high rock candies and Turkish delights. Since eighteen hundred and seven, four generations of the Erol family have worked this corner in Kadıköy. Cafer Erol first opened his shop in the Eminönü district before moving here. He spent his mornings boiling sugar and fruit syrups in copper vats. The family keeps the original recipes locked away, even as they add modern flavors like lavender or espresso to the traditional honey pastes.
