The Greek Orthodox Church of Ayia Efimia is marked by a tall, yellow bell tower that rises above the surrounding buildings in the heart of Kadıköy. Built in seventeen hundred and ninety-four, it stands on the site of an earlier church dedicated to the same saint. During the nineteenth century, the local community undertook significant renovations to expand the structure. It houses relics of Saint Euphemia, who was martyred in the fourth century and remains the namesake of this neighborhood landmark.
