The Ayazma Mosque features a distinctive rococo style, marked by a high, arched entrance staircase and windows that curve with the soft lines of the stone facade. Sultan Mustafa the Third commissioned the building in seventeen sixty, dedicating it to his mother. He chose this site overlooking the Bosphorus to replace an older structure that had fallen into disrepair. The mosque serves the neighborhood today, retaining the intricate, curved stone carvings that define its eighteenth century aesthetic.
