The Sandon Complex

The Sandon Complex displays a weathered brick exterior with arched windows that stretch along the street, remnants of its life as a nineteenth century public house. It became the home of the Liverpool Football Club in eighteen ninety-two when the team split from Everton. John Houlding, who owned both the pub and the land, hosted the players in his rooms upstairs while the club held its first meetings in the bar. The team changed in those rooms, then ran to the pitch.
