Granary Square

Granary Square sits on the footprint of a bustling nineteenth century industrial canal basin. This was once a primary hub where canal barges met rail lines and road transport to offload goods. The site earned its name from the prominent brick building that still borders the north side of the plaza. That structure was completed in eighteen fifty-two to serve as a massive warehouse for storing wheat delivered by boat to feed London bakers.
