Eaton Square

Eaton Square is not actually a square at all. It is a sprawling, elongated rectangle that stretches over a quarter of a mile in length. This massive layout was designed by master builder Thomas Cubitt in 1827 to serve as an elegant, aristocratic residential district. To create this grand space, Cubitt had to drain what was once a dangerous, marshy area known as the Five Fields, a place formerly notorious for highwaymen, robbers, and dueling gentlemen.
