Star Tavern, Belgravia

The Star Tavern sits tucked away in a quiet, cobbled mews in Belgravia, appearing as a peaceful enclave far removed from the city bustle. Built in the mid nineteenth century, the tavern was designed to serve the domestic staff who worked in the grand townhouses of the surrounding neighborhood. It maintains a strict physical divide in its history, having once enforced a clear hierarchy between the saloon, private, and public bars, where butlers and footmen kept to their designated spaces. Today, this Grade Two listed building retains much of its traditional charm, including historic wood paneling and fireplaces that have been preserved through various refurbishments.
