The Lamb, Bloomsbury

The Lamb sits on the corner of Lambs Conduit Street, a thoroughfare named after the sixteenth-century cloth merchant William Lambe. He funded an ambitious project to build a series of lead pipes and conduits that channeled fresh spring water from the fields here all the way to the heart of London. While those original water pipes are long buried, the pub serves as a permanent, brick-and-mortar namesake for his sixteenth-century act of public utility.
