Nature Discovery Garden

The Nature Discovery Garden is a living laboratory located on the grounds of the Natural History Museum. This five-acre site was designed to study how wildlife adapts to the intense pressures of a major city. To capture this data, a network of twenty-five environmental sensors is hidden throughout the landscape, constantly monitoring the local ecosystem. Scientists combine this information with environmental DNA sampling to track the movement and health of urban species in real time. It serves as one of the most intensively studied urban nature sites in the world.
