Ambassadors Theatre (London)

The Ambassadors Theatre is one of the smallest venues in the West End, but its compact size is the direct result of a legal battle over light. When architect W. G. R. Sprague designed the building in 1913, he was restricted by an archaic regulation known as ancient lights. To avoid blocking sunlight to the adjacent properties, the builders had to lower the structure and sink the stalls below ground level.
