The Earls Court Exhibition Centre became a center of the maritime world each January, transformed by the signature installation of a massive indoor pool. This vast water feature allowed visitors to see yachts and dinghies floating in the middle of the building, a spectacle that turned an industrial exhibition space into an unlikely harbor. Johnny Weissmuller, the actor famous for his role as Tarzan and a former Olympic swimmer, officially opened this pool when the venue first launched in the nineteen thirties. For decades, the boat show utilized this unique architecture to bring the experience of the open water directly to central London, offering a refuge from the cold winter months.
