Earl’s Court Police Box

The blue structure you see outside the Earls Court tube station is a faithful replica of the iconic nineteen twenty-nine police box designed by Gilbert Mackenzie Trench. While it serves as a nostalgic landmark for many, it was actually installed as recently as nineteen ninety-six. A local police officer named John Hodges campaigned to have it placed here as a functional community asset, complete with a direct telephone line to the Kensington police station and modern surveillance equipment. Though it was intended to be the first of many such units across the city, it remains the only one of its kind ever completed.
