Lindsey House

Lindsey House stands as the oldest surviving domestic building in Chelsea, dating back to sixteen seventy-four. Built by the third Earl of Lindsey, the mansion occupies the site where the sixteenth-century gardens of Sir Thomas More once thrived. While it was constructed as a single grand villa, the structure was later subdivided into the distinct row of dwellings you see today along Cheyne Walk. The building serves as a rare, tangible link to the area's pre-industrial past, maintaining original seventeenth-century features like wooden paneling and marble fireplaces behind its stucco facade.
