The building you are approaching at 46a Old Church Street once functioned as an early nineteenth-century dairy, complete with a milking parlor. When engineers Geoff Frost and John Wood converted it into a recording studio in 1965, they left the original floor's slight slope intact, which they believed contributed to the room's unique acoustic signature. While other London studios of the era were known for being sterile, controlled environments staffed by technicians in lab coats, this space favored a natural, live sound. The founders achieved this by removing a section of the second-floor ceiling to create a high, open space that allowed instruments to resonate organically.
