Crosby Moran Hall

Crosby Moran Hall began its life five miles away in the City of London as a towering merchant's mansion known as Crosby Place. Built between fourteen sixty-six and fourteen seventy-five for the diplomat and silk merchant Sir John Crosby, the house was so famously grand that William Shakespeare chose it as a setting for his play Richard the Third. The structure even served as a primary residence for the future King Richard the Third himself while he plotted his political ascent.
