Walton's Restaurant bombing

On March eight, nineteen seventy-five, the restaurant known as Walton's on Hans Crescent became the target of a bomb attack by the Provisional Irish Republican Army. Two devices were detonated in quick succession, with the first explosion intentionally drawing staff and patrons toward the front of the building before the second device triggered near the rear exit. This tactic resulted in a significant number of casualties, marking one of the most calculated strikes against a civilian target during the period of conflict known as the Troubles. The attack shattered the quiet atmosphere of this upscale area and signaled a shift in the reach of political violence toward high-end commercial spaces in the city.
