The Grant Museum of Zoology stands as the last remaining university zoological museum in London, functioning today much as it did when it was established in 1828. Robert Edmond Grant, the first professor of zoology and comparative anatomy in England, founded the collection to provide his students with an immersive, hands-on experience in anatomy. Because it was designed as a working teaching collection rather than a public gallery, it holds a density of specimens that feels more like a Victorian cabinet of curiosities than a modern museum. It currently resides in the former medical school library of the Rockefeller Building, where it continues to serve as an essential resource for researchers and students.
