Statue of George Orwell

You are standing before a two-and-a-half-meter-tall bronze figure of George Orwell, positioned just outside the main entrance of the BBC Broadcasting House. Created by sculptor Martin Jennings and unveiled in 2017, the statue depicts the author in a characteristic pose, leaning forward with a cigarette in one hand, as if he is perpetually mid-argument. The location is deliberate, as Orwell worked within this very building from 1941 to 1943, where he produced broadcasts for the BBC Eastern Service during the Second World War.
