Ship Tavern, Holborn

The Ship Tavern on Gate Street has stood in some form since 1549, making it one of the oldest pub sites in London. It originally drew its name and clientele from the small shipyards and docks that once operated along the banks of the River Fleet, a waterway that has since been buried deep beneath the city streets.
