Worsley Hotel fire

On December 13, 1974, this row of Edwardian houses in Clifton Gardens served as the Worsley Hotel, a residence for staff training in other London hotels. In the early morning hours, two separate arson attacks were carried out within the building, sparking a fire that required thirty fire engines to bring under control. The tragedy resulted in the deaths of seven people, including a twenty-five-year-old probationary firefighter named Hamish Petitt.
