The London Palladium

The London Palladium occupies a site with a surprisingly varied past. Before it became a world-famous theater, the land hosted a Corinthian Bazaar, a grand circus, and even a national ice skating palace. When the current structure opened on Boxing Day in nineteen ten, it solidified its reputation as the premier stage for variety performances, featuring everything from magicians to comedians. Its architect, Frank Matcham, included innovative details like a revolving stage and a private telephone system that allowed the occupants of the theater's luxury boxes to call one another during a performance.
