Prospect of Whitby

landmark

The Prospect of Whitby stands on the banks of the Thames as one of the oldest riverside taverns in London, with roots reaching back to fifteen twenty. In its earliest years, it was known as the Pelican, but its rough-and-tumble reputation among local smugglers and thieves eventually earned it the far more sinister nickname, the Devil's Tavern. The building you see today retains an original flagstone floor that has been walked upon for four hundred years.
