Rose Garden

The Rose Garden in Belfast Botanic Gardens centers on a sunken, circular design filled with thousands of rose bushes. Created in nineteen thirty-two, this space replaced a former vegetable plot intended to supply the gardeners. During the mid-twentieth century, the park superintendent imported rare hybrid tea roses from across Europe to fill the beds. A cast iron fountain stands at the geometric center, where visitors often found the superintendent measuring soil acidity with a handheld kit long after closing hours.
