The Crown Liquor Saloon

The Crown Liquor Saloon features a front facade of multicolored Italian tiles and polished granite that stands out against the brickwork of Great Victoria Street. Inside, carved mahogany booths line the walls, and the gas lamps still flicker above etched glass mirrors. Built in eighteen twenty-six as a gin palace, the building served as a gathering point for shipyard workers and clerks alike. When the landlord refused to renew the lease in the early nineteen hundreds, a local man fought to save it.
