SS Nomadic

landmark

The SS Nomadic sits in the Hamilton Dock with a black hull and a tall, buff-colored funnel. It remains the last surviving White Star Line ship in the world. When the Titanic anchored off the coast of Cherbourg in nineteen twelve, the water was too shallow for the massive liner to reach the pier. The Nomadic ferried first and second-class passengers out to the Titanic, serving as a floating waiting room until the larger vessel arrived to take them across the Atlantic.
