Cathedral Church of St. Anne

The Cathedral Church of Saint Anne is defined by its massive, aluminum-clad Spire of Hope that rises sharply above the roofline. Construction began in eighteen ninety-nine, but the project stalled for decades due to money problems and the turmoil of the First World War. Architect Thomas Drew famously died before seeing his design finished. When builders finally added the stainless steel spire in two thousand seven, they hoisted the entire structure into place by helicopter, clearing the building by only a few inches.
