Spirit of Belfast

monument

The Spirit of Belfast sculpture sits at the center of the roundabout, featuring a tall, swirling silver structure that looks like a metallic ribbon reaching toward the sky. Commissioned to mark the regeneration of the city center, the piece arrived in two thousand and nine. Artist Dan George designed the sculpture to reflect the movement of the Lagan River nearby. It stands thirty-three feet high, and its polished surface catches the shifting light as cars circle the base throughout the day.
