Grand Opera House

The Grand Opera House is marked by the ornate, mustard-colored brickwork and the onion-shaped domes perched atop its roof. Frank Matcham designed this theater in nineteen ninety-five, filling the interior with heavy gold leaf and rich velvet. During the Troubles, the building took three direct bomb hits. It survived every time, and after the final explosion in nineteen ninety-three, workers spent two years meticulously patching the plasterwork and restoring the damaged stage before reopening the doors to the public.
