Oracle Park

Oracle Park stands as a defining landmark along the San Francisco waterfront, constructed on the edge of the China Basin. When the ballpark opened in 2000, it became the first Major League Baseball stadium in nearly four decades to be built entirely with private financing. Its design intentionally rejects the multipurpose concrete bowls that characterized the previous era of stadium architecture, instead choosing a classic steel-and-brick aesthetic that mirrors the industrial history of the surrounding district. By anchoring the structure directly against the San Francisco Bay, the architects created a setting where the game itself is framed by the open water and the city skyline.
