Golden Dragon massacre

On September 4, 1977, the Golden Dragon Restaurant at 822 Washington Street became the site of the deadliest mass murder in San Francisco history. In the early morning hours, three masked gunmen from the Joe Boys gang stormed the dining room to assassinate rival leaders from the Wah Ching gang. The assault lasted less than sixty seconds, but the gunmen fired indiscriminately into a crowded room of late-night patrons. Five innocent people died, and eleven others were wounded, while the intended gang targets escaped injury.
