A forty-five-foot-tall sculpture of a woman stands in the middle of the Financial District, composed of translucent fiberglass and steel. Marco Cochrane created this figure, titled R-Evolution, to represent the freedom of the female body. She rests on one knee, her posture relaxed and open, illuminated at night from within. When the piece first appeared, people gathered around its base to see how the light caught the layers of steel, watching the city skyline reflect against the sculpture’s smooth, towering frame.
