Ocean Beach

At extremely low tides, the weathered wooden ribs of the clipper ship King Philip occasionally break the surface, providing a fleeting glimpse of an vessel that ran aground here in eighteen seventy-eight. This ship is one of roughly twenty vessels that came to grief on these shores between the mid-nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The shifting sands of the beach act as a natural vault, burying and revealing these ghostly hulks as the coastline profile changes over the decades.
