Beach Chalet

The Beach Chalet was the final architectural project completed by the celebrated San Francisco architect Willis Polk. He died in nineteen twenty-four, just ten months before this building opened its doors to the public in nineteen twenty-five. Polk was a noted local visionary who played a major role in shaping the city's appearance after the great earthquake and fire of nineteen oh-six, and he viewed this structure as a way to invite San Franciscans to better enjoy the beauty of Ocean Beach.
