Lands End - Golden Gate National Recreation Area

Lands End is a rugged, windswept corner of San Francisco that has served as a gateway to the Pacific for thousands of years. Long before it became a park, the Yelamu Ohlone people maintained seasonal settlements here to take advantage of the abundant fresh water springs and the rich marine life along the shore. Archeological evidence shows they were living in this area as far back as one hundred and fifty years after the birth of Christ. For them, this was a place for fishing, hunting sea lions, and telling stories at the edge of the continent.
