Pier 14

Pier Fourteen extends six hundred feet into the bay on a narrow concrete finger. It lacks the bulky cargo sheds found on neighboring piers, keeping the view of the Bay Bridge open and unobstructed. This structure sits on the site of a nineteenth century ferry terminal that burned to the waterline in nineteen eighteen. Its current form was finished in two thousand six, designed specifically as a public promenade for people to stand far out over the water and watch the ships pass by.
