Brannan Street Wharf Park

You are standing at Brannan Street Wharf Park, a two-acre public space that stretches directly out over the waters of the San Francisco Bay. This site was once occupied by the aging Pier 36, a structure that fell into such disrepair that it was condemned and blocked off for years before being demolished to make room for this park. The current deck is built on hundreds of concrete piles driven deep into the bay floor, engineered to be resilient against both the rising sea levels and the seismic activity common to this region.
