Rincon Point sits at the edge of the Embarcadero as a thin strip of parkland tucked beneath the towering concrete pylons of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. Before the bridge construction began in the nineteen thirties, the shoreline here was a rugged, industrial waterfront known as Rincon Hill, home to sailors and Gold Rush era boarding houses. Today, the water laps against a protected cove designed to provide a quiet transition between the bustling city streets and the open bay.
