Coral Gables Museum

The Coral Gables Museum occupies the former Coral Gables Police and Fire Station, identified by the distinctive coral rock masonry and a slender, square tower that rises above the street. Built in nineteen thirty-nine, the structure functioned as the municipal center for public safety until the late twentieth century. In nineteen forty-two, the city jail held a group of German saboteurs who had arrived by submarine, marking a brief moment when local detention cells became a federal holding facility for enemy combatants.
