Riverside Plaza stands out with its bright, primary-colored panels and a height that looms over the Mississippi River. Architect Ralph Rapson designed this complex in the early nineteen seventies as a vertical city, intended to house a diverse mix of income levels in concrete towers. It arrived during a wave of urban renewal, and its distinct modernist geometry drew inspiration from European housing models. Today, the complex remains the tallest building in Minneapolis outside of the downtown core.
