The Capella Tower rises above the Minneapolis skyline with a distinctive granite facade and a prominent crown that glows at night. Completed in nineteen ninety-two, it sits on the site where the Metropolitan Building, a renowned Romanesque revival structure, stood until its controversial demolition in the sixties. Architect James Freed designed the tower to evoke the geometry of early skyscrapers. It remains the third-tallest building in Minnesota, housing corporate offices while retaining the footprint of the neighborhood’s vanished historical anchor.
