The Orpheum Theatre features a massive, glowing marquee that hangs over the sidewalk, spelling out its name in bright, red neon letters against the Minneapolis skyline. Built in nineteen twenty-one, the theater served as a stop on the vaudeville circuit for stars like the Marx Brothers and Harry Houdini. The lobby floor uses over forty thousand pieces of mosaic tile, and the auditorium walls hold ornate plasterwork. A performer once famously left a lipstick kiss on a mirror in the dressing room.
