Nicollet Island Inn

The three-story limestone building on the southern tip of Nicollet Island features a distinctive mansard roof and a wrap-around porch that faces the Mississippi River. Built in eighteen ninety-three, it began as the Island Sash and Door Company factory before finding a new life as a hotel. During the mid-twentieth century, the structure sat vacant and decaying until developers converted the industrial shell into the current inn, preserving the original thick stone walls that once housed woodworking machinery and mill workers.
