The Dayton's Project

The Dayton's Project occupies a full city block, marked by massive limestone walls and a corner clock that has kept time for downtown Minneapolis since the early twentieth century. This building served as the flagship department store for the Dayton family for over a century. In nineteen sixty-three, store president Bruce Dayton insisted on adding an auditorium to the eighth floor. He wanted to bring world-class art exhibits, like the Dead Sea Scrolls and van Gogh paintings, directly to his shoppers for free.
