Colonial Warehouse

The Colonial Warehouse features thick, red brick walls and oversized timber beams that hold up ceilings fifteen feet high. Built in nineteen hundred and nine, it served as a primary distribution hub for the booming wholesale grocery trade in Minneapolis. Merchants stored massive amounts of flour, sugar, and dried goods here before moving them onto train cars nearby. In nineteen eighty-four, a group of artists converted the heavy industrial floors into open studio lofts, starting the neighborhood's transition from manufacturing to residential living.
