The IDS Center rises as a faceted glass tower, sharply angled against the Minneapolis skyline. Built in nineteen seventy-two, the structure redefined the city’s urban core by replacing a collection of aging, low-rise buildings with a modern skyscraper. Architect Philip Johnson designed the tower with a signature setback pattern, creating geometric corners that provide office tenants with multiple corner windows. Inside, the massive glass-enclosed Crystal Court serves as an indoor city square, connecting the tower to the surrounding downtown blocks.
