The Prince mural on the side of the Ramp A parking garage rises five stories above First Avenue. It is a painted recreation of the singer’s nineteen eighty-four Purple Rain album cover, showing him on his motorcycle. Hours after the news of his death broke in twenty sixteen, the artist Hiero Veiga started painting this massive tribute. He finished the work in just three days, capturing the musician’s silhouette against a vibrant, purple-hued backdrop that catches the eye from several blocks away.
