Gondola Rides

The Venetian Resort features a quarter-mile long canal that winds through the Grand Canal Shoppes. Gondoliers in traditional striped shirts steer flat-bottomed boats through water that flows beneath ornate stone bridges and past balconies modeled after Venice. When the project opened in nineteen ninety-nine, construction crews used over one hundred million gallons of water to fill the artificial basin. Workers hauled in millions of pounds of Italian marble to recreate the city, including exact replicas of the Doge's Palace.
