The Bellagio is defined by an eight acre lake that sits between the hotel and the sidewalk, erupting in water shows every fifteen to thirty minutes. Steve Wynn built this resort on the site of the old Dunes Hotel, spending one point six billion dollars to bring a version of Lake Como to the Mojave Desert. When it opened in nineteen ninety-eight, its most famous feature was a fine art gallery that displayed original paintings by Monet and Renoir in the casino.
