Beastie Boys Obey

The eight-story mural towering over the corner of 14th Street and Avenue A is titled Posse in Effect. It was painted in October 2023 by the renowned street artist Shepard Fairey to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of hip-hop. The image captures the Beastie Boys during their breakthrough Licensed to Ill era, based on an iconic photograph by Glen E. Friedman.
