IAC Building

The IAC Building serves as a striking departure from the traditional, boxy architecture that defines much of Manhattan. Designed by Frank Gehry and completed in 2007, this ten-story structure was the architect's first full building project in New York City. Its fluid, white exterior is often compared to billowing sails or an iceberg, reflecting a departure from the city's standard brick and steel facades. Barry Diller, the head of the media conglomerate that occupies the site, famously mandated that the exterior be covered in smooth glass rather than the metallic finishes Gehry had originally envisioned, leading to the building's signature look.
